I have a friend who is close to finishing up his math Ph.D. and he is feeling a bit disillusioned. I told him about your career choices, and he may be interested in talking to you, getting some feedback and encouragement as well as some idea as to what his options are. He is very computer-proficient and has a TA position in programming the databases for our lower-level math courses (computer homeworks, grading systems, etc).
