WBAL-TV -- Maryland drivers with EZ Pass transponders are getting letters telling them that their transponders are nearing the end of their useful lives and are about to be replaced. The letters are going to 50,000 people who have had their transponders for more than five years.

Those who don't return the units within 15 days will be charged $24.60.
