birdwatcherChicago Tribune -- Lake County sheriff's officers have broken up a dogfighting operation in Beach Park, authorities said Tuesday.
Many of the dogs appeared to have been injured in dogfights and had scars. He believes the basement was used by spectators to watch and bet on dogfights. An arena was set up with seating for 12 to 15 people, and there was blood on the walls.
"This was a major dogfighting circle," Jonites said. He said there was evidence of transactions and dogs may have been brought in from other areas to fight. "It's obvious money was placed on the dogfights."
"It doesn't appear the house was being lived in. It appears it was being rented for dogfighting."
