birdwatcherКак известно, лучший ресторан в Америке уже несколько лет не French Laundry (Томас Келлер), a чикагская Alinea (Грант Ашац). Ашац, 1974 г.р., раньше тоже работал в French Laundry, а недавно ее затмил.
В прошлом году у м-ра Ашаца был обнаружен рак языка. Тhree doctors told him that he needed most of his tongue removed and that it could result in him losing his voice, sense of taste and ability to swallow. Then, a fourth physician, Dr. Everett Vokes, chief of hematology/oncology at the University of Chicago Medical Center, gave him another option: radiation and chemotherapy.
