birdwatcherOn Tuesday, five police officers and one retired county sheriff’s officer were indicted on charges of conspiring to help Charles and Robert Post, 33-year-old twins from Pompton Lakes, avoid arrest, and to hide their relationships with the brothers. The Posts were arrested in August 2004 on charges of selling anabolic steroids, cocaine, OxyContin and other prescription medications.
“This was a situation where these were young officers attracted to the lifestyle of the targets of our investigation,” Mr. Avigliano said. “It was an MTV-type lifestyle of luxury automobiles, boats and going to clubs.”
The prosecutor said three of the officers used OxyContin and Ambien provided by the brothers.
