Aug. 18th, 2013 11:49 pmChicago Sun-Times -- Firefighters rescued the woman from the river at Oakdale Avenue at 8:45 a.m., according to the Chicago Fire Department. She was swimming and refused to leave the river, Chicago Police said. She was taken in “stable” condition to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center. It is illegal to swim in the Chicago River, according to Chicago Police Officer Jose Estrada, a department spokesman.
