"There have always been weird crashes. The "problem" is that technology has gotten too good and thus prevents planes crashing for "normal" reasons like colliding with one another or getting struck by lightening. It leaves us with nothing but weird crashes and thus they stand out more. It doesn't help if you have any sort of phobia of flying cause these weird crashes activate it in the worst way. It's to the point where you'd be relieved to hear about a plane going down due to terrorism because at least that makes a degree of sense."
