The thirteen-member committee adopted Resolution 691, to wit: “Resolved: Not to allow the request for fear that the performances by the Beatles are liable to have a negative influence on the country’s youth.” Тhe committee ultimately issued Resolution 709, ruling that the Beatles would be denied the requisite permits to perform because the band’s music was of no artistic value; because its appearances had led to mass hysteria where they performed; and because its influence would undermine the values of the country’s youth. It later added that even American officials dealing with young people had called for banning the group from performing due to rioting, mass hysteria, injury, and the need for police intervention.

Страну не угадал, но статья понравилась. :) Я слышал об этой истории пару раз уже в Израиле, но подробностей не запомнил, т.к. никогда не фанател от Битлов.

То что запретили концерт это ещё фигня. Израиль с обретения независимости вплоть до начала 80-х был таким СССР в миниатюре, хоть и с человеческим лицом, конечно. Но маразма хватало.
