Мы с женой всегда смеялись, что новорожденные младенцы, когда хотели есть, совершенно отчетливо говорили "мяу". Оказывается, что всё правильно, только это, наоборот, кошки мяукают, как человеческие младенцы, чтобы их незамедлительно кормили.

Parallels have previously been drawn between the isolation cry of domestic cats and the human infant distress cry [6]. Our study indicates that such a cry, embedded within the naturally low-pitched purr, is dramatically emphasised by cats in the context of food solicitation and humans are highly sensitive to it.
