SPRINGFIELD, MASSACHUSETTS (WWLP) -- "As I called to ask to meet with the Springfield Mayor Charles Ryan, his Chief of Staff Miss Webber said he was meeting with a towel head. I hadn't heard that before. And I said, what's a towel head? And she said it's a Muslim leader and he wants to know if the murder on Sunday was a hate crime".

State Representative Cheryl Coakley-Rivera says a short time after that alleged incident in 2004, she heard complaints from some City Hall staffers about comments Michele Webber allegedly made concerning the Puerto Rican Festival that was in July. Rivera says that Webber said she did not want to go to the festival because she did not want to catch AIDS.
