birdwatcherChicago Tribune - Michelle M. Garcia, an inmate whose last known address was in North Chicago, was discovered by the shift commander during a routine check on prisoners, police said. Attempts to revive her were unsuccessful, police said.
Paramedics pronounced Garcia dead at the jail about 10:20 p.m., Lake County Coroner Richard Keller said. An autopsy showed she died by hanging, and the death was ruled a suicide, Keller said.
Garcia was arrested Thursday on a warrant from the Illinois Department of Corrections after police saw her walking down the middle of Broadway Avenue, flagging down motorists, police said.
