CHICOPEE, MASSACHUSETTS -- If someone under the age of 18 goes to a store to illegally buy cigarettes, how often do they get away with it? The Gandara Center in West Springfield got a grant to see how often stores sell cigarettes to minors by sending local teens to try and buy them.

The West Springfield-based human service agency, which for thirty years has been serving the needs of the Hispanic, African-American, and other special populations of the Springfield area, was recently awarded a $70,000 grant to oversee youth compliance checks in a number of Western Massachusetts communities.
