May. 20th, 2009 09:05 amChicago Tribune -- Two Canadian men scammed a 93-year-old Plainfield-area resident out of nearly $3,000 this month by telling the man his grandson had been arrested in Ontario for illegal fishing and drinking, according to Will County sheriff's police. The victim sent $2,789 via Western Union to get his grandson out of jail. The victim became suspicious the next day when one of the men, posing as a police officer, called to say another $1,000 was needed.
