Chicago police are investigating the deaths of 12 people who may have died from tainted heroin. Investigators saw a pattern of overdose among people who recently purchased heroin along the same stretch of South State Street, between 27th and 29th streets.

According to the Chicago Sun Times, the victims were between the ages of 21 and 40. All of them lived in the city.

Police said the tainted drugs could show up anywhere in the Chicago area.
