Police this morning were searching for a gunman who shot and killed a man during a dispute inside the Chicago Housing Authority's Harold Ickes complex on the South Side. Neighbors in the high-rise building in the 2400 block of South State Street told police they heard two men arguing about 9:30 p.m. Thursday and then the sound of gunfire. The 22-year-old suffered a gunshot wound and was found lying in a pool of blood in an 8th-floor stairwell.
The victim was sitting at a bus stop when a vehicle pulled up and a gunman exited and fired, striking him in the chest. Police said Garner, of the 200 block of East 55th Place, and Deese, of the 4500 block of South Champlain Avenue, are both known gang members. Police believe the two mistook Jordan for a member of a rival gang and shot him.
