SWAMPSCOTT, Mass. -- The 10-year-old reportedly brought a four-inch knife and brass knuckles to class, taking the weapons out and showing them to other students. A classmate told his teacher, and the principal was able to take the weapons away, according to the superintendent.

Parents said their kids have always been safe here and don't believe metal detectors are the answers to Swampscott's problems.
