The show began during a light rain at 11am but as the day progressed, more rain came in and the visibility and cloud ceiling diminished to the point that officials canceled the show for safety’s sake. CHICAGO SUN-TIMES: Chicago Schools CEO Arne Duncan hit seven church pulpits Sunday to preach a simple message: Kids should be at school for the first day, on time, ready to learn.
"School starts when?" Duncan asked families gathered at Mount Vernon Baptist Church in East Garfield Park.
"Sept. 4!" the congregation roared back in the cavernous brick church.
