CHICAGO TRIBUNE -- But Doug Sohn, owner of Hot Doug's in Chicago's Avondale neighborhood, no longer makes the "Joe Moore," a foie-gras and duck sausage sandwich. Sohn served foie gras in defiance of the ban, and was fined $250 -- to date, the only restaurateur fined under the ordinance.

"I have that going for me," Sohn joked. "That's real resume material."

Sohn's disobedient days are over, he said.

"It wasn't worth the hassle and the attention we were getting," he said. "I made my point. But one of my arguments was the wasted time, energy and resources to pass the law, and it would be hypocritical of me to spend the same time, energy and resources to oppose it."

"We've been trying to tell the public how typical this is, how widespread it is, the horrors the animals go through. . . . It's opened the curtain so everyone can see what's going on." Надо понимать, что в цену войны входят не только очевидные стоимость патронов, содержание военнослужащих, снимание ботинок в аэропортах и восстановление будущих Центров Мировой Торговли, но и повышение минимальной заработной платы. Если бы не война, не пришлось бы идти на этот компромисс с демократами.
