birdwatcherWASHINGTON - An 84-year-old holiday tradition drew thousands to the Ellipse in Washington Thursday evening.
President George W. Bush lit the national Christmas tree at 6 p.m. Thursday with assistance from 11-year-old Brianna Kinder, of Kensington, Md., and 10-year-old DeMarcus Hawkins, of D.C. They were selected because of their service to the community.
