В Австралии обнаружена колония лягушек, вымерших 30 лет назад. The rediscovery of the yellow-spotted bell frog is a reminder of the need to protect natural habitats so "future generations can enjoy the noise and color of our native animals," said Frank Sartor, minister for environment and climate change.

А ведь казалось бы, надо было сделать совершенно другой вывод: вид, который считался вымершим и без которого мы сумели выжить, обнаружен, значит надо вообще забыть о защите природы, поскольку (а) она сама защитит себя и (б) мы можем жить и без вымирающих животных.

Но, вероятно, в данном случае высказыывание министра природы применимо не столько к вымирающим видам животных, сколько к защите министров природы как вида.
