Apr. 13th, 2006 08:18 amHeather Faria was a special education teacher at Dighton-Rehoboth Regional High School. She told colleagues in 2004 that she had stomach cancer and couldn't afford to pay for both expensive medical treatments and food. Parents, teachers and other members of the school community raised $30,000 in donations.
Faria pleaded guilty to six charges today at her arraignment in New Bedford Superior Court, including five counts of larceny over $250 and one count of gross fraud. Faria's attorney says his client is "sorrowful" for letting people down.
