The new Berghoff Cafe opened quietly Tuesday, serving the same menu of German favorites as the 107-year-old restaurant that closed in February.
Some customers say what's missing is many of the restaurant's longtime unionized workers. The old Berghoff had been one of the only Chicago restaurants to still employ union cooks and servers.
