A proposal to change certain high school graduation requirements in Virginia has some fine arts teachers up in arms. The General Assembly is considering a proposal to require that students earn more career and technical education classes, known as CT, in order to graduate.
The teachers said they fear the plan could force thousands of students out of band, chorus, drama and art classes.
"The quality of theatrical performance has never been better and we don't want to tamper with that and don't want to make it harder for the young people who might not be college-bound to take part in that," said the band's founder Bill Strauss.
