birdwatcherMarch 10 (Bloomberg) -- New York Governor Eliot Spitzer told his aides that he was involved in a prostitution ring, the New York Times reported, citing an administration official.
Spitzer was meeting with aides at his Fifth Avenue apartment in Manhattan and had abruptly canceled his previously planned public schedule, the Times said. The governor plans to make a statement from his Manhattan offices, according to his updated schedule, which provides no further details.
The Times, quoting ``a person with knowledge of the governor's role'' in a federal investigation of a prostitution ring, had named Spitzer as a client.
Spitzer, a Democrat who is married with three children, prosecuted at least two prostitution rings as attorney general, the New York Times said.
