bomba -- Scientists in America have discovered that sexist men who believe a woman's place is in the kitchen consistently earn more than "modern-thinking" men. This amounts to an extra $8,500 (£4,722) in annual salaries, according to the researchers.
Researchers say that the extra money earned by sexist men came even after other factors such as education, the complexity of the job and the number of hours a person works were considered. They also discovered that couples where both spouses tended to view the ideal place for a woman as the home had a significant earnings advantage over those who disagreed.
The research was published in the latest edition of the US Journal of Applied Psychology.
Magdalena Zawisz, a psychologist at Winchester University, said the discrepancies in earnings could be explained by several factors. "It could be that more traditionally minded men are interested in power, both in terms of access to resources – money in this case – and also in terms of a woman who is submissive," she said.

Я, к сожалению, не прочитала оригинального исследования, а только пробежалась по интерпретации, на которую ты дал ссылку. Т.е. мне было бы интересно узнать с чем связана эта разница в зарплате. С тем ли, что у мужчин придерживающихся традиционных взглядов больше тестестерона, они более агресивны и рискованы, чем современные мужчины или с тем ли, что срабатывает архитипичная поговорка - "ему же семью кормить надо"...

Date: 2008-09-25 07:33 pm (UTC)на самом деле, решение женщины сидеть дома вызывает у меня не меньше уважения чем попытки сделать карьеру. Другое дело, когда "место женщины на кухне" провозглашено извне, а не из нутра самой женщины. Возможно, бердвочер прав, и сексисты женятся исключительно на домохозяйках. Но мне кажется, что наш мир далек от такой гармонии :)
