Как и было обещано, в связи с бедственным положением в экономике у нас в начале лета разрыли все хайвеи и разобрали все мосты сразу, в том числе и не требующие ремонта.

А вот уже точно известно: благодаря новому регулированию, вступившему в силу в мае месяце и обещающему авиалиниям огромные штрафы за трех-с-половиной-часовые задержки рейсов на летном поле, теперь все рейсы всегда отменяются либо направляются в другие города, ровнёхонько через три часа стоянки, как по секундомеру. The number of flights that were canceled after two- to three- hour tarmac waits soared 41 percent and diversions rose 26 percent during May.

I'd say it was the law of unintended consequences (http://www.econlib.org/library/Enc/UnintendedConsequences.html) in action, but that assumes that the scoundrels in power had any good intentions in the first place. I think they knew perfectly well what they did and what would the results be, and didn't think a second about fucking up other people in exchange for a little political advantage for themselves.
