The Bush administration has argued that the shield (американский, в Чехии и Польше) is needed to defend Europe and the U.S. against a potential attack from Iran or North Korea. While neither country has intercontinental ballistic missiles capable of reaching Europe, the shield is warranted because both could one day develop that capability, U.S. officials say.

This is probably irony but anyway you don’t seem to know what a pile of fecal matter Putin’s Russia is becoming. You should note that this fecal matter possesses nuclear weapons and this crap may flood the US and the rest of the world if unchecked. Just wait for the next Cuban Missile Crisis. The same applies to Iran, North Korea and other countries of the Axis of Crap. Libertarian anarchists renounce force without no apparent reason. Though the reason is obvious – a lack of reason (sorry for the pun). They renounce the use of the US military abroad only because it is financed by government and they’re against mandatory taxation. Obviously the logic is flawed. As I argued before, the military can be financed voluntarily. So basically the method of funding is absolutely unrelated to the military’s utilitarian properties. And the utility of the US’ overseas deployments (at least some of them) is obvious. The US government’s chief task is to punish criminals, both internal and external. Criminals, including criminal states that want to acquire nukes, don’t give a shit about political boundaries. This is why they should be punished wherever they are.

I’m not sure about Putin but some individuals nowadays may be more dangerous than Stalin. At least Stalin was a smart man and understood what consequences would follow if he nuked the US. Just tell me your precise prescription for dealing with, say, a crazy Bin Laden aide who may decide to nuke his way into martyrdom by destroying New York City. I’ll preempt a possible argument that stepping up domestic defense would help. It wouldn’t. There is no way of preventing terrorists from entering the US except for completely stopping all traffic across the borders, which is hardly a good idea. So you see, there are Al Qaeda and Taliban training camps in Waziristan and other places. Just tell me what on bloody earth can prevent you from supporting the use of the US military for destroying these camps? I just want to see the look on your face when you say you’re really against destroying them. Well, if this is the case, your suicidal philosophy is very akin to that of leftists, liberals and pinkos – those who are bringing the collapse of civilization.

Let me get this straight. There’s an Al Qaeda training camp in Waziristan. There’s info that there are terrorists there who’re planning attacks on the US. The point is that there is no fundamental difference between criminals in your state and those in Pakistan. Pakistani criminals are far away, while Illinois criminals are nearby – that’s true. Pakistani criminals are less likely to attack you but there is still a possibility, which was proved on 9/11. Adhering to your flawed logic, types of crimes that take place in your state less often should be exempt from punishment. Let’s just exempt the killings of over 30 people by one murderer from punishment because such mass murders are less likely to take place. Why not?

These terrorists may be ethnic Pashtuns or Arabs who live in Springfield. So their hatred for the US in general and Illinois in particular is understood. The difference between the two situations is that one group of terrorists is located in Pakistan and the other is located in Springfield. And anyway, Chicago is one of the largest US cities, which is why it is a likely target.
